The AMMPA Individual Associate Membership category was created to enable individuals who have, over the course of their careers, made long-term and significant contributions to the Alliance and/or to the care, welfare and display of marine mammals and/or to scientific research on marine mammals, but who are no longer employed by an AMMPA Organizational Member.
This membership category was created for individuals who are retired, unemployed or employed outside of the industry. Individuals who are currently employed at a non-AMMPA member facility are not eligible to become Professional Associate Members.
Individual Associate Members may serve on and/or are eligible to be appointed to chair AMMPA committees and may apply to serve as AMMPA accreditation inspectors. Individual Associate Members are eligible to attend the AMMPA Annual Meeting.
Individual Associate Members do not have voting rights and are not eligible to serve on the AMMPA Board of Directors. Membership may be renewed each year or revoked by a majority vote of the AMMPA Board.
Those interested in becoming a Individual Associate Member must submit an application to AMMPA along with two letters of recommendation from employees of current AMMPA Organizational Members and a check for $100. After filling out application, please send check to: Kathleen Dezio, Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks & Aquariums, 218 N. Lee Street, Ste. 200, Alexandria, VA 22314.
All applications must be approved by a majority vote of the AMMPA Board of Directors for final approval.
